Here’s the Orlando weather information:

According to the Orlando Sentinel,
10/6/16 at 2:19 pm: This is from WFTV 9 on what is currently expected. Keep in mind that Orlando is in Orange County:

“Inland (Orange, Seminole, Osceola, Polk, Sumter, Marion)

  • Thursday: Breezy. Winds will be increasing through the afternoon. Persistent rain bands could bring some heavier rain amounts. Weather will be quickly deteriorating, please stay tuned to the latest weather updates.
  • Friday: Hurricane-force winds likely. Rain bands with embedded thunderstorms, depending on the track and where the bands become more persistent. Some of these rain bands could have severe thunderstorms embedded in them, producing stronger winds gusts and the possibility of developing tornadoes.” —WFTV 9

10/6/16 at 12 pm: According to WFTV 9, much of Orlando is under a Hurricane Warning, and the furthest west locations are under a Tropical Storm Warning. They are saying that the Orlando area will have up to 100 mph sustained winds along the I-4 corridor, with the potential for higher gusts. They expect significant damage with numerous homes having roof and siding damage.
10/6/16 at 12 pm:  According to the Orlando Sentinel, though Hurricane Matthew is expected to be a category 4 when it hits Florida later today, right now it’s looking like Orlando will get winds from 70 mph – 90 mph (sustained winds) with possible stronger gusts.  The eye of the storm with the more intense hurricane force winds is expected to skirt the coast of Florida.
The winds can do damage, and tornados are also possible with a risk level of moderate, according to the Orlando Sentinel. It’s important to stay vigilant if you’re in Florida, and watch the news, because things could change. It’s essential to prepare and have a safety plan.
Further south along the east coast, Hurricane Matthew should make landfall in West Palm Beach with the eye of the storm skirting the coast as it heads north. As a category 4 hurricane, it’s a very dangerous storm and can bring heavy destruction. Tornados are also possible.
