How do you look up allergy and gluten-free options in the Disney World restaurants?
If you’re planning a visit to Disney World, there’s a way that you can look up their allergy menus in advance. Plus, you can look up allergy-friendly and gluten-free quick service meals for pre-ordering in the parks.
For most of the Disney-owned restaurants, you’ll be able to find the foods they offer that can be prepared without the main allergens or gluten. For the non-Disney-owned restaurants, they may or may not display allergy/gluten options. These options can be found:
- On the My Disney Experience app
- On the Disney World website
You’ll be able to see if a meal or food is free of certain allergens, and if it’s gluten-free.
Keep in mind that if you don’t see anything appropriate, or if your particular allergies are not addressed, there can often be accommodations made. Also, even if you want something right off the menu, some people just prefer to order in person so they can speak directly with a chef or manager.
Check out our series on managing at Disney with special dietary needs to find out how to order. Even many of the quick service restaurants can make some changes to your meals.
How to access the allergy/gluten-friendly menus on the My Disney Experience app
Do the following:
- Open the My Disney Experience app
- Choose “Tips Board”
- Change from “Attractions & Shows” to “Dining”
- Choose a restaurant you’re interested in
- Choose “View Menu”
- Scroll down, usually to the bottom, to find the allergy and gluten-friendly options.
If you’re looking at a quick service restaurant, you can pre-order any of the meals displayed. However, if you need some changes to your meal, you’ll want to order face to face, inside the restaurant. See this article on How to order allergen free or gluten-free in a Disney World quick service restaurant.
If you’re looking at a full service restaurant, they can often make many accommodations. See our article on How to Order in a Disney World Full Service Restaurant with Allergies or Celiac.
How to access the allergy/gluten-friendly menus on the Disney World website
Do the following:
- Go to disneyworld.com and under “Things to Do” choose “All Dining“.
- Choose the restaurant location you’re interested in, using the upper right drop-down tab that says “All Walt Disney World Locations”.
- Choose from the filters shown, or choose “All Filters” to see additional ways to find restaurants. This includes options such as “Table Service”, “Character Dining”, etc.
- Click on the restaurant you’re interested in.
- On the right, click “Menu”.
- Scroll down, usually to the bottom, to find the allergy and gluten-friendly options.
Below is an example of a menu. It’s from Tiffins at Animal Kingdom. Notice on the bottom of each dish description are the allergies or special dietary needs that the meal/food might be appropriate for. So if you need to stay free of gluten, you’d want a dish with “Gluten/Wheat” written below the description.
Of course, Disney World is known for supporting those with food allergies and those who need to eat gluten-free. If you don’t see what you’re looking for, ask. While there’s no guarantee, we’ve found a great deal of support and flexibility, especially in the Disney-owned restaurants. In the non-Disney-owned restaurants, there may be less support, but many are coming onboard to help those with special dietary needs.
